Police car washed away - Hospital almost without electricity - Heavy storms again in The Netherlands

A Strong storm caused a lot of trouble in the centre of The Netherlands yesterday. In the provinces of Utrecht and the North of Brabant streets were no longer accessible and tunnels were flooded. Within 3 hours the regional emergency rooms received some 278 reports of incidents.

The soil underneath a train overpass off the road was washed away due to the large amounts of water. A police-van got stuck in the soil because of this and the police officers had to break the window of their van to safe themselves.

The basements of the ` Diakonessenhuis´ hospital, where the hospitals´ powerhouse is located, were in danger of being flooded. With the help of extra pumps this potential disaster could eventually be prevented from taking place.
