LAA Bergen
Description of the partnership
In Norway, the MARE project focuses on the city of Bergen. The city has an extended Learning and Action Alliance comprising all levels of government, knowledge institutions and private sector (Climate Forum). In addition a regional climate panel has been set up, with of representatives of the City of Bergen, the regional council, municipalities in Hordaland and the Bergen Business Region. The regional climate panel is the driving force behind the region's climate adaptation work, and is intended to identify regional challenges, register them and present them so that the municipalities can include them in their work.
The climate panel will also address the following:
- Regional climate work, transport analyses etc. This will identify the bigger picture.
- The integration of individual municipal climate plans at regional scale with links to the national climate plan.
- The commercial development opportunities arising from climate change, and how regional economic development can adapt in the most sustainable way possible.
A regional climate network is being developed to provide information about the work with MARE and adaptation to climate change.
