Hanover is the leading partner of the LAA. The LAA drawing on the toolbox and guidance of WP2 work has developed criteria and standards for flood risk assessment and the development of responses in an area of the city area threatened by river and surface water flooding. Physically the flooding processes are representative of medium to large rivers in flat to undulating topographies.and in this respect Hannover occupies a unique but valuable niche within the MARE. As well as contributing to the demonstration of the CPT tools modelling the physical system, the regional partnership will also be used to assess the tools and procedures that will help with sustainable development help to demonstrate the benefits of horizontal and vertical collaboration between partners. This collaboration will have particular relevance to the development and assessment of planning strategies and their impact of Flood Risk Management. Finally, ways of raising the awareness and capacity of communities living in high risk areas will be developed.

The partners involved in the project opens up the possibility of the employees in a particular way to qualify, because they bring together the extensive knowledge and experience from all involved MARE partner countries and cities. This would be the conventional way can not be achieved. It is therefore important to ensure the project won in the long term experience and knowledge. The state capital of Hanover is a result of which run parallel to the project to build a center of excellence for flood protection for the entire metropolitan region of Hannover-Braunschweig-Göttingen, Lower Saxony, the central region, consisting of over 60 communities and 4 million inhabitants.
